Baby grand in the golden playroom

Porous plaster walls absorb and hold tight
all the experiences of every previous dweller
within each room
throughout all the years.

exhibited December 2023 in blankspace, at 843 Holland Ave, Wilkinsburg PA
… which is a former home, rich with history.
The exhibition is based on the only precious bit of 843 Holland’s non-fictional house history that I had access to:
“Looks like the house was built in the 1890s.  …in 1938 someone had to sell a nearly new baby grand piano that they had there. One of the earliest owners was T. A. Marter, a clerk, and his wife. … They had a euchre party with 40 people there in 1900. He traveled to NYC a lot more than most people, but I haven't figured out why. He liked to stay at the Martinique Hotel. Then they founded Bradford Woods township and moved there.”
